During our last cultural event we have celebrated Eid al adha, The Great Celebration of Muslim people and the second of two major holidays in Islam. For those who celebrate it the day begins with morning prayers and continue with visits to friends and family, exchange of gifts and feasts. Those who can afford it also slaughter an animal, like a cow or sheep, and share the meat with the less fortunate. At Open Cultural Center we had a celebration of our own, we enjoyed amazing food made by our volunteers, we danced on great music and learned a lot about Eid al adha.
The evening started with a presentation and some games made by our volunteers Roy, Abdo and Mouaz, in which they introduced themselves and explained what this celebration is about. In this occasion, volunteers cooked a variety of sweets to share with everyone such as “Hrise” and “Aauameh”. Right after the presentation, people got a taste of them while having a nice conversation and meeting each other in a very multicultural and cozy environment. Our event couldn’t end without Abdo, Mouaz and Roy teaching some typical dances such as Dabke to animate the guests.
Events are very important for us. Not only they help with integration, awareness and sensibilization but they also make us have a good time, learn about different cultures and meet new people. Soon we will have another great cultural event! Please join us and enjoy another wonderful evening at our cultural center in the heart of Barcelona.UPCOMING EVENTS
