“I am Sara from Afghanistan. I left my country because of the war in 2016. It was very difficult to leave all my memories of the place I was born and everything from my childhood.”
When I was in Iraq I was working as a psychologist in a courthouse with a judge. After this, I worked as a marriage counsellor and social worker. I really enjoyed my job because I was able to talk to people, listen to their problems and use my skills to help them. I also worked as a legal secretary for six months and in customer service. Up until now everything was fine in my life.

One of our team members will be cycling 400 kilometers around the island of Mallorca within 24 hours to raise money for the Open Cultural Center. The funds raised through this campaign will be used to support the projects of OCC in both Spain and Greece.

The bicycle shop ‘BikeIt’, located in the Eixample district in the heart of Barcelona, helped selling a bike of one of their customers and donated their commission to us! A very generous gesture from this small, but specialized and skilled bike shop!
On Sunday, August 5th, the President of the Catalan Parliament, Roger Torrent, visited the Open Cultural Center in Polykastro. He also visited the Nea Kavala Refugee Camp which is the main place of residence for the beneficiaries of OCC activities.
With proudness we are happy to announce that our wonderful book – My Friend: the Refugee Journey – is now translated in German and available via our website. The price/donation of the book is of 10€, which will go on to finance the activities of Open Cultural Center in Greece.
