Light bulb planters DIY

Would you like to have a chic planter made with upcycled materials? We will show you how to do it in a few steps.

Materials you need :

  • Light bulb ( one that you are not using anymore 😉 )
  • sharp knife
  • pliers
  • hot glue
  • twine
  • self-adhesive drops silicone

The first step will be to double-check that the light bulb is no longer usable. After that, it will be necessary to cut a little piece of the metal part of the light bulb. To do it, you will need to have a sharp knife. The second step is to remove the inside part of the light bulb, to do it you will use the pliers. Please be careful and make sure that all the black part of it, is gone.

After that, would be cool if you are available to find some twine at home to put it on the metal part that remained in the light bulb. If so, you could apply hot glue in the twine to put it as you like on the metal part, it would give a cool touch to your soon-to-be planter. WARNING: It is important to take care that the hot glue does not dry before you put it on the metal.

We are almost done, if you will like to have the light bulb planter standing up, it will be necessary to put some kind of support in the lower part of it. To do that you will need drops of silicone. You will put 3 or 4 drops of silicone and yes, your new planter is ready to receive your beautiful plants! Another option could be to use the twine to hang the light bulb planter in your favorite spot. Choose the way you like it better!
