About CARAVAN

CARAVAN brings conversations about migration into the heart of public spaces.

Objective of the project: Through participatory activities, interactive games, and immersive experiences, the project encourages people of all ages to reflect on diversity, challenge stereotypes, and connect through dialogue. By encouraging face-to-face interaction, the project promotes empathy, curiosity, and intercultural understanding beyond stereotypes.

Background: Originally developed by the French Red Cross, which has carried out several editions of the project each year across different regions of France, the initiative is taking on a European dimension this year, with OCC piloting it in Catalonia, Spain. With support from the European Union, the one-year project involves the adaptation of the Caravan's materials to the local context in Catalonia and the co-creation of a guide on best practices and lessons on adapting and implementing the initiative in different countries.

In the summer of 2026, Caravan travelled to various towns and villages across Catalunya, setting up a stand for the day and offering migration-related activities to passersby. With the support of our team of volunteers and guests from the French Red Cross, we visited Moià, Sabadell and Manresa and talked to hundreds of members of the public about migration.
