About DAPHNE-Reflections

Education is a universal human right, yet many children from displaced communities face barriers to accessing education in Europe. The DAPHNE-Reflections project aims to raise awareness of these challenges, focusing on preventing and addressing exclusion and violence against children and young people through child-centred interventions, participatory methods and inclusive community support.

Open Cultural Center Greece participates in the project as a partner and, within this initiative, provides opportunities for the children of Nea Kavala camp to express themselves artistically and explore creative ways of storytelling.

Over the course of a year, OCC Greece has organised workshops and creative sessions for the young people who attend our centre in Polykastro, particularly the Pirates (adolescents aged 12 to 17). Through activities such as theatre, creative writing, poetry, storytelling, and illustration, the young people were encouraged to express themselves creatively, share their experiences, and develop their own stories. These activities promote confidence, collaboration, and creativity and the final deliverable of the project is a handbook that compiles the stories and illustrations produced during the workshops.

DAPHNE-Reflections forms part of the broader DAPHNE-CHILD programme, a three-year initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des hommes, supporting community-based organizations across nine European countries: Bulgaria, Greece, Portugal, Ukraine, Spain, Serbia, Romania, Ireland, and Hungary.

The project is funded by the European Union through the CERV Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101138279) under the DAPHNE-CHILD initiative.
