Public statement by Open Cultural Center Greece

In recent days, false and defamatory statements have circulated regarding the work carried out by our volunteers at our center in Polykastro. Open Cultural Center categorically rejects these claims. They do not reflect reality, and they appear intended to damage our reputation and to fuel a narrative rooted in hostility and hate speech.

In response to this incident, and in order to protect our community, our organization’s leadership has filed a formal report with the police. We take this matter seriously and remain committed to protecting the safety and dignity of our community.

We remain firmly committed to our mission. Every day, our team works toward the inclusion of migrant and refugee children, young people, and adults through education, community-building, and mutual support. We invite those who spread such rumours to come along to the classes we organise, as we believe that education and coexistence are the antidote to ignorance and hatred.

Finally, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our community: our volunteers, our neighbors in Polykastro, our staff, and the participants in our programs, for your continued trust, your daily presence, and your commitment to peaceful coexistence in our center and in this town.
