About MigraCode Barcelona

MigraCode Barcelona is a pioneering coding academy dedicated to empowering migrants and refugees through free, high-quality tech education. Founded in 2019 by the Open Cultural Center (OCC), the program aims to bridge the gap between individuals with a migrant background and the labour market.

The academy offers an intensive 8-month web development bootcamp, focusing on practical skills such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. Students also receive training in soft skills, language proficiency, and job search strategies, ensuring a holistic approach to integration.

MigraCode's inclusive community comprises individuals from over 70 countries, with 50% identifying as women. The program fosters a supportive environment where students collaborate, share experiences, and build lasting networks.

Beyond education, MigraCode emphasises employability. Through partnerships with tech companies and organisations like Porsche Digital and Lenovo, graduates gain access to job placements and internships, facilitating their transition into the tech industry.

To further support students, MigraCode provides additional services, including mentorship through the CodeBuddies initiative, psychosocial assistance, and access to study spaces equipped with necessary technology.

With a track record of over 39 graduates and a commitment to social inclusion, MigraCode Barcelona stands as a model for integrating migrants and refugees into the digital workforce, promoting diversity, and fostering community development.
